”I FORGOT WHAT I WAS SAYING”
By Eri Maeda - Short reflections from a Japanese artist living in Paris.
👋Hi, I’m Eri Maeda
— a Japanese artist living in Paris.
These are short stories from my life — shaped by art, sensitivity, and invisible battles.
It doesn’t always make sense.
But I write to find pieces of truth in the mess.
This space is called “I Forgot What I Was Saying”
because sometimes I lose my thoughts mid-sentence, mid-sculpture, mid-life.
I write to find pieces of myself again.

Eri Maeda is a Japanese visual artist based in Paris, sculpting surreal stoneware forms through hand building techniques and vivid underglazes. Her work explores shame, taboo, and gendered expectations shaped by her upbringing, reimagining domestic objects as absurd, creature-like hybrids that blur the line between the familiar and the unsettling. Balancing humor and critique, Maeda’s sculptures challenge unspoken cultural norms, turning everyday symbols into playful yet subversive statements. Exhibited in Milan, London, Tokyo, and Paris, her art sparks universal conversations about constraint, liberation, and the silent forces that shape identity.
This is not advice. It’s not self-help.
Just one artist trying to make peace with the mess — out loud.
If that resonates, please subscribe and walk with me.
